Full title of your research project
Research project description (Executive summary)
This is where you convince the OCRE project board to fund digital Earth Observation (EO) services for your research project. Be sure to:
Clearly specify your research discipline
Describe your project focus and relevance within this discipline and how it will influence further research in this field
Suggest why you think your project will make a good case study on the benefits of digital EO services for research and attract the attention of the research community
Describe your anticipated project outcomes (which should be clear, measurable, and realistic) and how they will add value to society; the environment; etc.
Max. 4000 characters
How will digital Earth Observation (platform) services based on Copernicus data support your project activities and improve your research outcomes?
The types of EO services you anticipate consuming if awarded OCRE funding for such. For examples of such services please consult https://eomall.eu If you require any commercial cloud services to support your use of EO services, please detail this.
How the project could clearly demonstrate the benefits in consuming these services in terms of enhanced agility with regards project activities; improved research outcomes; lower project costs; etc.
Max. 8000 characterswords
The OCRE project is part of the European Open Science Cloud and supports the FAIR data principles.
Are you aware of the FAIR data principles?
Does your project support the reusability of research data?
Are you interested in learning more about sustainable hosting for your FAIR data?
Has your project already procured/consumed commercial cloud and digital services?
Please provide details on the type of commercial EO and/or cloud services that have already been used in your project.
Max. 4000 characters
When do you expect to be able to start using commercial Earth Observation (platform) services based on Copernicus data?
Please select the type of project your are applying for.
Wave 2: Funding for individual institutes to submit proposals for research projects that would benefit by consuming Earth Observation (platform) services based on Copernicus data. OCRE will fund 100% of the use of these services which would be supplied by suppliers on the OCRE Dynamic Purchasing System.
Wave 3: Co-funding for institutional research projects referred or supported by national/multi-national research (support) agencies. These agencies could be ESFRIs, ERICs, NRENs, national/regional eInfrastructure organisations, large European/national research agencies, etc. OCRE can provide (further) support for these projects to consume Earth Observation (platform) services based on Copernicus Data with 50% co-funding.
The OCRE project anticipates funding the use of commercial Earth Observation (platform) services based on Copernicus data for research projects, successful in their applications for such, up to a maximum of €100.000 for Wave 2 and €250,000 for Wave 3 projects.
We expect applications to provide an indication of anticipated spend on these services based on a high level budgeting exercise.
Please indicate by ticking the corresponding box which range of project funding you are applying for?
If your research project anticipates consuming cloud services at a cost significantly higher than the OCRE threshold, but you feel that the project could attract significant attention in terms of its objectives and ability to demonstrate the impact of these services, please submit a proposal with a detailed justification of these services.
Case study participation
Would you be prepared to work with the OCRE project team in developing a compelling case study describing your project activities and outcomes and the impact of the Earth Observation (platform) Services based on Copernicus data procured via the OCRE EO Dynamic Purchasing System (funded by the OCRE project)? This would require short interviews at various milestones within your project’s timeline and commitment to reviewing and endorsing the case study once the digital services have been consumed and enhanced your project’s capabilities
Please provide an overview of all resources in your core project team.
- Organisation the person works for
- Role in the project
Max. 4000 characters
Explain why the team is well placed to deliver the anticipated outcomes.
Please provide a short summary of the collective experience and, where available, please provide the link to a LinkedIn profile for each team member &/or an ORCID record (or similar).
Max. 8000 characters
Please fill in your milestones and deadlines in the table below. This can be as few as one and as many as 10.
From OCREs perspective these are milestones that pertain to your use of the cloud services. So while your research might take longer time to complete, quite likely you will have achieved something related to your use of cloud services pretty soon after you start working. Please fill in your milestones and deadlines in the table below.
While this form should allow you to provide the OCRE evaluation team with all information needed, you may have additional information that clarifies your project; brochures, presentations, papers, publications, other proposals. If there is any extra information that may assist us in evaluating your project proposal, please upload it here. While OCRE appreciates the extra information, we do reserve the right to not include it in our evaluation.
